The genie grants you a wish. What is it?

Imagine finding an old lamp, giving it a rub, and suddenly, a genie appears before you.
“You have one wish,” the genie announces. “Think carefully. You can wish for anything in the world.”
What would you ask for?
Would you wish for wealth, good health, a longer life, a dream home, or the opportunity to travel the world? Would you wish to turn back the hands of time and change something you regret? Perhaps you would wish for another conversation with someone you have lost, just to hear their voice one more time.
Or would your wish be something that money could never buy?
If I Had One Wish…
If I could have one wish, I would wish for a world where people no longer have to fight so hard to feel that they belong.
A world where children grow up knowing their worth before the world tries to define it for them. Where people can be different without being made to feel less than others. Where kindness is not mistaken for weakness, boundaries are respected, and people do not have to lose themselves trying to be accepted.
I would wish for a little more compassion in a world that can sometimes be unnecessarily cruel.
But here is something I have come to understand: even if a genie could grant us the most extraordinary wish, we would still have to live our lives. We would still face difficult days, make decisions, experience disappointment, and learn lessons we never asked to learn.
Sometimes, we spend so much time wishing for a different life that we forget to appreciate the life we are building.
That does not mean we should stop dreaming. Not at all.
Dreaming gives us something to reach for. Wishing reminds us of what matters. And sometimes, a wish can reveal what our hearts have been trying to tell us all along.
Perhaps your wish is not for more money but for peace of mind. Perhaps it is not for a perfect relationship but for the courage to walk away from one that no longer serves you. Perhaps you do not want to change your entire life; you simply want the strength to face what tomorrow brings.
There is no shame in any of those wishes.
And while we may never meet a genie who can make everything right, there are things we can begin to change today. We can choose our words more carefully. We can give ourselves permission to start again. We can encourage someone who has forgotten their worth. We can stop shrinking to make other people comfortable.
We may not have magical powers, but our choices still carry power.
Your Turn to Reflect ✍️
Forget what you think you should wish for. Forget what would impress other people.
If you had one wish, what would genuinely matter to you?
Would you use it to change your own life, help someone you love, or make the world a better place for people you may never meet?
And if your wish came true tomorrow, what would you do differently?
Today’s reminder: You do not need a genie to begin creating a life that reflects what matters most to you.
Sometimes, the first step towards a wish coming true is being honest enough to admit what you really want.
