Sunday Reflection #1

Author: Kamika Manning

What Did This Week Teach Me?

Sunday has a different kind of energy.

The week is winding down. Maybe you accomplished everything you set out to do. Maybe you didn’t. Maybe you had a week that stretched you, challenged you, disappointed you, surprised you—or simply wore you out.

Whatever kind of week it was, before you rush into Monday, take a moment to look back.

What did this week teach you?

Not what did you achieve.

Not how productive were you.

Not whether you ticked every box.

What did you learn?

Maybe you learned that you are stronger than you thought.

Maybe you learned that you have been giving too much of yourself to something or someone that gives very little back.

Maybe you learned that saying no doesn’t make you selfish.

Maybe you discovered that you actually need more rest than you have been allowing yourself.

Perhaps someone showed you exactly who they are. Perhaps a disappointment forced you to see something you had been trying not to see.

And sometimes the lesson isn’t dramatic at all.

Sometimes the lesson is simply:

“I don’t want to do this anymore.”

And that’s okay too.

We don’t always recognise growth while we’re experiencing it. Sometimes growth looks like walking away. Sometimes it looks like speaking up. Sometimes it looks like staying quiet instead of reacting. Sometimes it looks like starting again after you thought you were finished.

And sometimes growth looks like admitting:

“I could have handled that better.”

There is no shame in that.

Reflection isn’t about beating yourself up over your mistakes. It’s about being honest enough to learn from them.

You don’t have to carry every experience into the new week. Take the lesson. Leave the unnecessary weight behind.

Because every week doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful.

Some weeks teach us through joy.

Others teach us through disappointment.

Some teach us through people.

Others teach us through solitude.

But if we are willing to pay attention, there is usually something there worth taking with us.

Sit With This

Before Monday arrives, ask yourself:

What did this week reveal about me, my relationships, my boundaries, my priorities, or the life I’m building?

And then ask yourself one more question:

What am I going to do differently because of what I now know?

You don’t need to have all the answers today.

Just be honest with yourself.

Sunday Affirmation

I honour what this week taught me. I don’t have to repeat every mistake to prove that I have learned from it. I take the lesson, release what no longer serves me, and step into the new week with greater awareness, stronger boundaries and a clearer sense of who I am.

This week taught me something.
Next week, I get to do something with it.
