The Thing I Was Obsessed With as a Kid

As a child, I was completely obsessed with climbing trees — especially mango trees. There was just something exciting about climbing higher and higher until I could sit quietly among the branches with a bag full of mangoes.

One day, I decided to climb a very big mango tree. At the time, it felt like the best idea ever. I sat up there happily eating mangoes, enjoying the breeze and feeling proud of myself.

But when it was time to come down, reality hit me hard.

I looked down and suddenly the ground seemed miles away. My bravery disappeared instantly. I froze on the branch and started screaming for my grandma.

Poor Grandma rushed outside in a panic, only to find me stuck high up in the tree I had confidently climbed on my own. She ended up calling the workmen next door for help. They brought over a very tall ladder and carefully helped me climb down while I held on for dear life.

I was embarrassed, relieved, and terrified all at once.

Needless to say… I never climbed such a tall tree again after that day.

Looking back now, it’s one of those childhood memories that makes me laugh every single time. Childhood was truly a mix of fearlessness, adventure, and learning lessons the hard way.

And honestly? Those mangoes still tasted worth it. 🥭😂

What’s something you were obsessed with as a child that got you into a little trouble?
