WordPress Daily Prompt: Describe a risk you took that you do not regret
One risk I took—and never once wished I hadn’t—was choosing to bet on myself creatively.
There was a point where playing it safe would’ve been easier. Keep things quiet. Keep things private. Write, but don’t share. Create, but don’t be seen. That path comes with less judgement, less vulnerability… but also less growth.
Instead, I chose to step out.
I shared my words.
I gave my thoughts a voice.
I allowed people to see me—fully, creatively, unapologetically.
And that was terrifying.
Because when you put your creativity into the world, you’re not just sharing content—you’re sharing pieces of yourself. Your perspective. Your truth. Your courage. And not everyone will understand it. Some won’t like it. Some won’t get it at all.
But here’s the truth I learned along the way:
You also have to be prepared to walk away.
And I know—that part isn’t easy.
Because deep down, we all want to feel included. We want to belong. We want to be seen, accepted, embraced. So sometimes we stay longer than we should. We tolerate more than we should. We adjust ourselves just to fit into spaces that were never designed for us.
But at what price?
If staying means silencing your voice…
If it means shrinking who you are…
If it means constantly questioning your worth…
Then it’s not inclusion—it’s self-abandonment.
Walking away can feel like loss.
Loss of connection. Loss of familiarity. Loss of what could have been.
But what you gain is far greater:
Peace.
Clarity.
Self-respect.
That’s a trade I will choose every single time.
Because sometimes the real risk isn’t leaving—
it’s staying somewhere that slowly convinces you to become less of yourself.
Choosing to show up as I am… and choosing to walk away when I’m not valued…
those have been the boldest, most necessary risks I’ve taken.
And not one part of me regrets it.
